Royal Docks loop from Wapping
On Sunday 5th May we have a ride characteristically near water starting and ending at Wapping station on the Overground. We ride to and alongside the Royal Docks then the Greenway to the Olympic Park, then Victoria Park, the Regents Canal and returning to Wapping. We use off road paths and cycleways with no riding on a busy street.
We will catch the 9:48 at West Croydon or rendezvous outside Wapping station at 10:20 if you are not coming from Croydon. Please make that train: the next is not until 10:18. With contactless the fare is £2.
There is about 150 minutes cycling and, with our lunch stop and a comfort stop or two, the Wapping-Wapping ride will take about 4 hours.
Any bike that can ride a towpath can ride this. Please bring an inner tube. This adults only ride is not suitable for beginning cyclists as the towpaths with walkers need some skill to ride. Please note bikes will need to be carried 25 steps from the platform at Wapping to the lifts.
To avoid carrying the bike downstairs at West Croydon Station you can get to the ramp down to the platform from the carpark around the side and touch in on the platform reader on your left as you reach the platform.
